Does tarmac crack over time?
Tarmac can crack if the sub-base settles or shifts, which is why proper groundwork matters more than the tarmac itself. A drive laid on a solid, well-compacted base will see out 15–20 years with minimal cracking. Any hairline cracks that do appear can usually be sealed.
Will weeds grow through a tarmac driveway?
Tarmac is a solid, jointless surface, so weeds can't push through it like they can with block paving or gravel. The only place you might see weeds is right at the edges, which is easy to keep on top of with a quick spray now and then.
