Can you re-tarmac over an existing driveway?
In some cases yes - an overlay can work if the existing surface is sound and at the right level. More often we'd recommend breaking it out and starting fresh, because an overlay on a failing base just buys you a few years before the same problems come back.
Does tarmac fade in the sun?
It weathers a little in the first year, easing from jet black to a slightly softer grey-black, then stays put. Most people prefer that settled look anyway.
